At 安安 An-an Yakiniku (bbq restaurant) in Gumyouji, Yokohama

I’m really not a fan of Yakiniku restaurant for several reasons: food cooks so slow and it’s all meat and charcoal.  However, due to my love of food, this is not something that will stop me from going to a bbq house.

There’s this really cheap Yakiniku house in my neighborhood called An-an (literally means peace-peace).  They have branches around Yokohama too and offers really cheap Yakiniku set.  They sometime have a promo that sells one stick a dollar (around 100 yen).  Not so bad since 5 sticks can already make you full, if you are a light eater.

Since they are a specialty Yakiniku house, their selection of yakiniku is quite vast.  They even have a special foil for barbequing scallops (which I really loved).  Not only that, they have other side dishes as well so if you are not into barbequing, you can still eat in the restaurant. One thing you shouldn’t miss though is their special dessert.  The chocolate ice cream was something you shouldn’t let pass.

If you are a fan of korean barbeque restaurants and in Yokohama and in a tight budget, take time to look for these restaurant and get drench in the smoke, get your hands burned, and be merry :-P (kidding about the burn part).

Date: September 2010 in Gumyouji, Yokohama
Budget: around 1000yen per person during lunch
